First I have made the sketch, and when we have decided that this is IT i was ready to pick out the woods and start to cut.
Fingerboard was first in line for cutting and milling. Matej wanted dark rosewood with MOP big diamond inlays.
For the neck, I have chose a cherry wood. It is strong, nice and it reminds of Japan, where vintage Ironbirds were made.
After shaping it and gluing everything, I have press the frets in. Matej wanted Nickel Silver jumbo frets.
Cutting and milling for the body was next. I have chose linden tree. It is light and clean. It doesn’t have beautiful patterns but it will be all painted so it doesn’t matter.
After adjusting all and lots of sanding, grain filling and more sanding, it was ready for painting and lacquering.
